About

PixLab 47 started as a group chat where four friends kept sending each other screenshots of weird little mobile games nobody else seemed to be talking about. At some point we realised we were writing longer messages than most reviews we read online, so we built a site instead.

We focus on indie and smaller studio releases, because that's where the surprises hide. The big-budget stuff gets covered everywhere; we'd rather spend an afternoon with something strange and personal.

Every game on here gets played properly, not just launched and screenshotted. Someone on the team sits with it for a few evenings, pushes past the tutorial, and only then writes anything down. If a game bores us or breaks, we say so.

We pick titles by rotation: each editor brings two candidates a month, we argue about them, and the ones that stick get a full write-up. No studio decides what we cover.

Lena Hartmann — Lena has been playing games on tiny screens since the days of monochrome phones. She runs the editorial side and still insists on finishing every RPG she reviews.
