Emberfall Chronicle
★★★★★ 4.6
Emberfall Chronicle is the kind of RPG I didn't expect to find on a phone. You lead a small band of travellers across a dying kingdom, and the writing actually made me care about them. Dialogue choices shift how companions see you, and a couple of them left my party when I pushed too hard.
Combat is turn-based and leans on positioning. You drag characters onto a grid before battle, and a mage tucked behind a wall of shields plays completely differently than one left in the open. It runs smoothly even on older hardware.
My one gripe is that the mid-game grind for materials drags. Stick with it, though, and the final act pays off with some genuinely clever boss design.
What we liked
- Writing that earns your attention
- Tactical grid combat with real choices
- Companions who react to how you play
